As a commerce editor who has tested dozens of leggings that nearly every single athleisure brand has to offer, I have a pretty good idea as to what makes a great pair. My testing methodology is pretty simple: I wear said leggings to hot yoga, during strength training, on three-mile walks and hikes with my dogs, on grocery shopping trips to Trader Joe's, and, of course, when I'm lounging on my couch watching shows on whatever streaming service I broke down and subscribed to that week. If you're curious about all the various leggings the W+G team has tested, click on over to one of our many roundups (this includes the best black leggings, best leggings for hot yoga, best fleece leggings, softest leggings, and more). But today's review is all about the celebrity-beloved (Jennifer Lopez and Gigi Hadid are just two of their famous clientele) Spacedye leggings by Beyond Yoga.
Spoiler alert: I love these leggings, and every single product I've tested from the Spacedye line, but before we get ahead of ourselves, let's talk testing criteria.

What's so special about Beyond Yoga's Spacedye line?
The material
Simply put: Beyond Yoga's Spacedye leggings (and the line in general) are the softest—yet most durable—I've come across. I've worn softer, but they tend to pill over time, and get worn down by frequent washes (which I can't really avoid skipping—leggings get stinky, y'all). Beyond Yoga describes them as "our buttery soft performance fabric with a unique texture and exceptionally soft hand," and they're not lying. Spacedye is crafted from a polyester-lycra blend that has 4-way stretch, and features moisture-wicking as well as built-in UV protection. They're also thick enough to give you that sturdiness needed for high-impact activities. And they are indeed incredibly buttery-soft—I could wear them as pajamas if I wanted. Honestly, they're as close to being naked as you can get, but I'm not sure if I'm ready for those kinds of yoga classes quite yet.
Compression
These leggings are lightweight and offer moderate compression that I find ideal for all my activities. They keep you supported through Warrior Pose, horse squats, high-to-low planks, HIIT, moderate cardio (full transparency: I haven't taken these on a run), and more. You're never pulling them up because they never feel loose, and they're never too tight or restrictive.
Sizing
The Spacedye line is very inclusive. More and more brands are getting with the program and offering more diverse sizing these days. But the Beyond Yoga ethos has always been all about creating high-quality, comfortable athleisure for all body types. Their leggings sizes range from XXS to 4X (and their Spacedye

Breathability
Beyond Yoga isn't lying when they boast about their moisture-wicking abilities. I am absolutely drenched when I leave my hot yoga sculpt class, and yet, my leggings are dry. I will not question this sorcery.
The fit
I always choose a midi high waisted legging, which means they come up past my belly button. The waistband is nice and high, as well as wide, which I find flattering for my body type (it accentuates my hips, and makes my butt look awesome—not trying to sound vain here, but also maybe I am, shrug). The overall fit is nice and snug and always stays put.
Durability
I've had my oldest pair for about a year: I wear them once a week and wash them once a week. I've yet to experience any kind of pilling, weird stretching, or tearing. They literally still feel like I just purchased them.
Color selection
This may not be that important to some, but for me, I like to play with color. Currently, I have a pair of charcoal, red, and forest green Spacedye leggings (with matching racerback tanks), and Beyond Yoga is constantly releasing new seasonal colors. What their Spacedye line doesn't have, though, is pattern-heavy material (although you should check out the brand's other offerings—they've got plenty of fun patterns to choose from).
Price
A pair of Spacedye leggings will set you back $97 (leggings with pockets are $99). This is pretty much in line with competing brands (for example, Lululemon Align leggings range from $98-$118, and Alo Yoga Alosoft High-Rise leggings go for a comparable $98). With that said...
The Takeaway: Are Beyond Yoga Spacedye leggings worth it?
My opinion as someone who makes a living reviewing athleisure all day long? (I mean, I do other things, but for the sake of time, let's go with it.) Yes: Beyond Yoga Spacedye leggings are worth every penny. I realize $97 is still a lot for a pair of yoga pants, but the comfort, durability, and performance offered is hard to compete with. It truly is hard to find a pair of leggings great for lounging and an intense workout class. If you're going to upgrade your leggings situation, I 11/10 recommend starting with Beyond Yoga's Spacedye leggings (and hey, if they're not your thing, there's a generous return policy—although I have a feeling you won't need it).
