Omnirad 369 Photoinitiator UV-Curable Systems

Omnirad 369 is a highly efficient UV-curing agent used to initiate the photo polymerization of chemically unsaturated prepolymers – e.g., acrylates – in combination with mono- or multifunctional monomers. Omnirad 369 is especially suitable for pigmented UV-curable systems, photoresists and printing plates.

Chemical Data

Chemical Name: 2-Benzyl-2-(dimethylamino)-4'- morpholino butyrophenone

Molecular weight: 366.5 g/mol CAS No: 119313-12-1

Application

Omnirad 369 may be used alone or in combination with suitable co-initiators such as Omnirad 184 and Omnirad 651 for UV-curable inks and varnishes for applications on paper, metal and plastic materials.

Its high absorptivity makes it especially suitable for UV-curable inks. Applications in the graphic arts (e.g., offset and screen inks, printing plates, etc.) and in the electronics industry (e.g., photoresists, solder masks, etc.) may also be of interest.

Storage & Handling

Omnirad 369 is sensitive to visible light and any exposure to sunlight should be avoided. Opened packaging should be closed after use to protect the product against light. Subject to appropriate storage under the usual storage and temperature conditions, our products are durable for at least 36 months.

Omnirad 369 should be handled in accordance with good industrial practice. Further information is provided in the material safety data sheet which is available on request.

Omnirad 369 / IRGACURE 369 Usage

1. Sinocure® 369 is a highly efficient UV photoinitiator with a high sensitivity range and high UV absorption, used to initiate free radical photopolymerization reactions and can be used in UV-curable inks and coatings in combination with appropriate co-initiators such as 184 or 651, 907, ITX

2. Sinocure® 369 is particularly suitable for UV curing of colored systems, especially blue and black color systems, and can even be used in systems containing UV absorbers such as.

3. Sinocure® 369 is used in packaging applications, such as offset printing, screen inks, etc., in the electronics industry, such as: photoresist, solder resist inks, etc., and in the manufacture of printing plates.

4. Due to Sinocure® 369 photoinitiator’s initiation effect depends largely on different formulations, the best effect and addition amount should be obtained by formulation tests.

Recommended addition amounts.
Offset inks 2 – 4%
Screen ink 2 – 4%
Color varnish 1.0-4%

5. Sinocure® 369 allows the preparation of a low-energy UV-curable card making offset ink.

Including the following mass percentage components: two functionalities modified polyester acrylate 40-50%; dipentaerythritol penta/hexa acrylate 5-10%; ethylene oxide trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate 5-10%; 1,6-hexanediol diacrylate 1-3%; photoinitiator combination 10-16%; pigment 15-20%; filler 3-5%; additives 1-3%. The photoinitiator combination includes the following mass percentage components: 2-benzyl-2-dimethylamino-1-(4-morpholinophenyl)butanone (photoinitiator 369) 15-20%; phenylbis(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phosphine oxide 15-20%; 2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl-diphenylphosphine oxide 15-20%; 2-dimethylamino-2-benzyl-1-[- 4(4-morpholinyl)phenyl]-1-butanone 20-25%; 2,4-diethylthioanthrone 20-25%. The present invention also discloses the preparation method and application of the ink.
